President Kenyatta has hinted at lifting the nationwide dusk-to-dawn curfew and cessation of movement of people in and out of Nairobi and four other counties.
Kenyatta, in an address to the nation on Saturday, May 23rd, admitted the Covid-19 pandemic has brought Kenya’s economy to a standstill, adding that the country cannot remain under curfew and partial lockdown forever.
The government declared a nationwide curfew and partially locked down some parts of the country including Nairobi, Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, and Mandera in an effort to contain the spread of Covid-19.
“I have told my Cabinet Secretaries that we cannot stay in lockdown forever,” Uhuru said.
He added: “It will come a time when like many other countries we will open up and when this time comes, it will be up to every individual to take personal responsibilities to protect themselves and families.”
During the address at State House, Nairobi, Kenyatta announced new measures aimed at resuscitating the country’s economy post-Covid-19. He unveiled an 8-point Economic Stimulus Program, which has been allocated to Sh53.7 billion to jumpstart the economy.
Key areas highlighted in the program include Education, Infrastructure, Small and Medium Enterprises, Health, Agriculture, Environment, and Manufacturing.
At the same time, Uhuru announced the confirmation of 31 new cases of Covid-19, raising the total number of infections in the country to 1,192.

It is a high time this happens. Indefinite lock downs are meaningless especially when there are so leaky, cause much stigma and are marked by so much disobedience. They end up hurting those that have endured so much to stay isolated while losing their means of living. Let’s think of a better way to deal with the expected spike once the ban is lifted. The current methods were copy pasted and don’t work well for our people. Covid-19 is here to stay for the foreseeable future and we cannot stay cowered forever.

Let us address what we have learned during lockdown.
To remember Kenya and African enemies and recognize them as such. The treatment of black man around the world should frighten us into unity not divide us. Kenya and Africans should treat their citizens with respect. It’s time to give incentives to Kenyans and Africans abroad to come home and grow that economy again. Kenya and Africa needs them.
To address police brutality,(during lock down)that has left some Kenyans maimed, others hospitalized and others dead while others have been rendered economically destitute.
To stop following a foreign script and look for answers within.
To work with our black brothers and sisters from Tanzania and Somalia and all other African countries to uplift the black nation and stop dependency of any kind!!

You forgot to add on Kenya cutting ties with china, cut immigration of china into Kenya by removing visa on arrival for Chinese, stop giving Chinese contractors state projects so qualified Kenyans can be part of nation-building and if foreign expertise is needed, then not from China. America was willing to build an expressway for a cheaper price than even china offered.
Lastly, focus on healthcare across the country.
