Autopsy Reveals the Cause of Death of Keroche Breweries Director Tecra Muigai

Keroche Breweries Innovations and Strategy Director Tecra Muigai died from injuries sustained on her left side of the brain, autopsy shows.

In an autopsy report, Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor said the injuries on the deceased’s head were consistent with her reported fall down the stairs at a holiday home in Lamu.

Dr. Oduor carried out the postmortem examination at Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi on Tuesday, May 12th.

Tecra’s boyfriend Omar Lali, who was with her in the house on the night of the incident, has since been arrested as police continue to investigate the events leading to her death.

Detectives arrested him after he allegedly gave two conflicting accounts of the incident, according to reports.  Daily Nation reported that he first told investigators that Tecra tumbled down the stairs but later changed his statement to say she slipped in the bathroom.

The two accounts were inconsistent with the version given by responders who rushed Tecra to hospital. A friend of Tecra said she found her lying unconscious with blood was oozing from her mouth while Lali was dead asleep.

She was first taken to local health facilities before her mother sent a private helicopter to pick her from Manda Airport and airlift her to Nairobi for specialized treatment.

Sadly, Tecra succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital on Saturday, May 2nd, four days after the incident.

A Lamu court on May 5th allowed police to detain Lali for 21 days pending completion of investigations.

Tecra will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at her family’s farm in Naivasha on an undisclosed date.

She was the last-born daughter of Keroche Breweries proprietor Joseph Karanja (Chairman) and his wife Tabitha Karanja (CEO).

From media reports, they had both been drinking and doing drugs daily, for several days. It is easy to reconstruct what happened. While intoxicated, she lost her balance and fell down the stairs, hitting her head and losing consciousness. Meanwhile he was also intoxicated and asleep, in a drunken stupor. It is logical for someone in this state not to know, or remember, what happened. Unless he is charged with Adultery, fornication, or doing drugs, I don’t think there was a Crime which was committed. It was an accident.

As much as drug abuse problem can be said to cut across “class”, the affluent have been beaten with the larger kiboko…. difference though, the rich try to keep it under wraps…even appease their struggling ones thereby being enablers… just so everything looks fine from the outside… until it’s too late.
God help us….this generation has way too many pressures.

If this was Gītheri man the chapter would have been closed and forgotten by now. Unfortunately we are talking of a rich family, one that has enriched itself from selling alcohol. The same alcohol that has killed many Kenyans and yet none of the businesses are ready to support those addicted to their commodity.
This girl downed more alcohol than her big bodied bearded beau could handle and that is why he went to sleep. And of course she continued drinking herself like it was her last day. And indeed it was.
They should release this man. After all he also has wounds to leak. Total bludder he made knowing well she had a problem but did nothing to help. He knew better but she was also an adult and perhaps the provider of the goodies they both enjoyed and he was in for the ride.
Drink responsibly and take care of those you love inflicted by this disease.
    RIP.

I think it was an accident caused by the circumstances. Leave that chap alone.

Accident or fall due to drug overdose. Why cohabit with a man old enough to be your father. It appears this family with all their wealth raised their children in a bubble or a strict controlled environment so that when the children got their freedom they act out to the extreme or because they never interacted with others in the same socio economic circle cling to whatever or whomever gave them attention because they did not measure up to their parents expectations.Just my opinion and observation.Money surely does not buy class.
