UN Agency Hails MP Babu Owino for Teaching KCSE Students Online Amid Covid-19 Crisis

United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) has hailed Embakasi East MP Babu Owino for offering free online classes to Kenyan students amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Babu, an actuarial science and law graduate, has been helping 2020 KCSE candidates do revision for Mathematics and Chemistry through his Facebook page, where he goes live.

Unicef, a United Nations agency responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide, recognized Babu for his efforts.

The agency said the youthful Kenyan MP was among people in different parts of the world who are using technology to teach learners after schools were closed in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.

“I am doing this to keep the students busy during this time when they are out of school. The good book (Bible) warns that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. I am also sure that these lessons are timely for Form Four students who will be sitting their national exams later this year,” Babu told Voice of America in a recent interview.

At least 127 million learners in East and South Africa are presently not attending school owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, according to Unicef.

MP Babu has won the hearts of many Kenyans online after showing his deep understanding and knowledge of the two subjects—Maths and Chemistry.

“Good tutorial work has been published by the united nations and Voice of America. We will continue helping our children”, Babu said on Twitter on Sunday, May 10th.

What he’s doing is nothing but an attempt to save face after all these dramas. A wolf in sheep’s clothe.

Maybe so bro/sis, lakini a child somewhere has benefited if only for a day… The future will tell if his name calling days, e.g mtoto wa umbwa are over. Give him the benefit of doubt. If his victim (DJ) can forgive him, who are we mere mortals?

Not for attempted murder, which agency was this, we will be writing letters.
