16 more Kenyans have tested positive for Covid-19, raising the country’s infections tally to 336.
The 16 new cases were detected from 946 samples tested in the country in the last 24 hours, according to Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Rashid Aman.
Aman, in a press briefing on Friday, said all the new cases were picked out by the Health Ministry’s surveillance team. 11 of the 16 new cases are from Nairobi County while five are from Mombasa.
The 11 cases in Nairobi are spread out in five estates namely; Dandora (5), City Park (2), Parklands (2), Eastleigh (1), and Pipeline (1).
In Mombasa, the four cases were registered in Kiembeni estate (1), Centi Kumi (1), Stadium (1), Msikiti Nuru (1), and Mulaloni (1).
CAS Aman said the ministry is in the process of tracing 887 people who came into contact with the 16 patients.
The ministry has also announced that five more patients have been discharged from the hospital after recovering from the disease. This brings the total number of Covid-19 recoveries in the country to 95 while the death toll still stands at 14.
Kenya has tested 16,738 samples since the country recorded its first case of Covid-19 on March 13th, 2020.
