Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie has been summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over his claims about the coronavirus pandemic.
Kiarie has been ordered to report to Kabete DCI offices for questioning over the allegations he made on social media on Sunday.
In a lengthy Facebook post, MP Kiarie claimed that the actual number of coronavirus cases in the country could be higher than the one reported by the government, adding that over 7,000 people who recently arrived in the country from abroad are under quarantine in his constituency and are yet to be tested.
He further alleged that Kenya is ill-prepared for the pandemic and lacks adequate equipment including testing kits, masks, ventilators, oxygen, and even hospital beds.
“Kenya currently has an acute shortage of testing kits, so the country cannot adequately test how many of these new arrivals are currently positive! We currently do not know the exact number of positive cases in the country. CS Mutahi is only communicating what they have tested with the limited testing kits available. There are many, many untested, unreported positive cases out here,” wrote Kiarie adding that Kenya might be confirming excess of 10,000 positive patients in a few weeks.
“How many of these new arrivals will test positive when we finally get kits in two weeks’ time or so, or whenever the kits arrive? Only God knows. Moderate estimates are that by May, Kenya will be reporting in excess of 10,000 positive patients!” he added.
“Kenya Government must forthwith communicate the gravity of the real situation without sugar-coating anymore. Let Kenyans know how bad things are about to get. They will be better equipped to make personal decisions and put up with government decrees, measures, and restrictions.”
“Kenya National Government must set up massive isolation centers around the country; over 4,000 bed isolation centres in Kasarani, Nyayo and City Stadiums in Nairobi. Over 3,000 bed Isolation centres in Mombasa and similar centres countrywide,” Kiarie said.
On Sunday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe termed Kiarie’s allegations as false and alarming, accusing some leaders of using the pandemic to gain political mileage.
“It is not true, why would you wish as a leader that 7,000 Kenyans be in quarantine? For what gain? Saying that the government is hiding information, for what purpose? It is unethical for one purporting to be a leader to mislead Kenyans for whatever reason,” said Kagwe.
Kagwe insisted that only 2,050 Kenyans are currently in quarantine at hotels, hospitals, and other designated facilities.
The Kenyan government is…
The Kenyan government is lying.
Uhuru Kenyatta himself is an Employee of the Chinese Communists Party.
Tony Blair is just a British conman who thinks he can control Kenyan mass murderers who work for CCP.
The Kenyan government is lying about everything.
Politicians can play…
Politicians can play politics but let them be reminded that God’s judgment is here!!Nothing will be hidden. They will do the same things that they have done in the past, but the results will be different. We are at a time when slavery is coming to an end after 400 years.
God is watching over his people. Let our leaders be careful with their actions as this time repercussions might be immediate.
People are praying and asking God for protection and the powers that be are about to be changed.
God bless and protect Kenya and Africans around the world!!
What Kiarie is asking the…
What Kiarie is asking the government to do is what leaders in other countries are saying is required to stop the spreading of corona virus and to treat those who get it. On the other hand what Kagwe and and DCI are doing is what China did which is deny the truth and crimonalize the the whistle blowers.
Burundi has Zero cases of…
Burundi has Zero cases of corona virus because they have tested nobody. Kiarie might be right because they have not tested many people.
