Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Returns After Two-Week Medical Trip in the UK

Jubilee Party secretary-general Raphael Tuju returned to the country on Saturday after undergoing specialized treatment in the United Kingdom for two weeks.

Tuju, who also serves as a Cabinet Secretary without a portfolio, was flown to London on February 19th for advanced treatment after he was involved in a grisly road accident on February 12th.

He was heading to Kabarak, Nakuru County for the burial of the late former president Daniel Arap Moi when his vehicle collided head-on with a matatu at Magina area on the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.

Tuju was rushed to Kijabe Mission Hospital for emergency treatment and later airlifted to Karen Hospital in Nairobi, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) for one week before flying abroad for treatment.

“[Tuju] was received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by government officials led by Defense Cabinet Secretary Monicah Juma, family members and friends at dawn on Saturday. Waziri was in high spirits,” a source Sunday Nation.

“He is okay and will be resuming his duties as a Cabinet secretary and Jubilee secretary-general in due course.”

Tuju reportedly sustained injuries on the chest and abdomen in the road crash.
