Three people who were on Sunday admitted to hospital in Nairobi and Mombasa have tested negative for Wuhan Coronavirus, Kenya’s Ministry of Health announced.
In a statement on Sunday evening, the ministry said that primary tests carried out on the three showed no signs of the deadly virus that has so far claimed the lives of more than 300 persons in China. It added that additional tests will be done in South Africa.
Two people with high fever were isolated at Kenyatta National Hospital after landing at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) from China on Sunday morning.
In Mombasa, a female medical student who returned to the country from China last Thursday was quarantined at the Coast General Hospital. The 22-year-old woman is a student at Southern Medical University in Guangzhou, China.
“They are all in good general medical condition,” the ministry said.
The virus has infected nearly 14,500 people across China and spread to 24 countries including Hong Kong, Australia, Cambodia, India, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, and South Korea.
Others are Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Canada, the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Sweden, Spain, the United Arab Emirates.
