Kenyan Woman Attempts to Sell Her Blood to Raise School Fees for Daughter Who Scored 380 Marks

A Kenyan woman and her 14-year-old daughter on Monday camped at Siaya County Referral Hospital hoping to find a person they could sell their blood to in a bid to raise the girl’s school fees.

The girl, Agnes Akoth scored an impressive 380 marks out of the possible 500 in last year’s KCPE examination and earned a place at Ng’iya Girls’ High School, according to Citizen Digital. But her mother Rose Akinyi Odhiambo is unable to raise the KSh.28,000 required for her admission to the school.

The two hoped to find a patient they would donate blood to in exchange for cash but no offer was forthcoming with the hospital informing them that blood could not be donated for a fee.

Speaking to the media, Akinyi said she had visited numerous government offices since the results for the KCPE examination were announced but did not get any assistance. Akoth, who sat her KCPE exams at Liganwa primary school in Alego, now fears she will not be able to continue with her education if they fail to raise the amount needed.

  1. That’s the Kenya most of us…
That’s the Kenya most of us live in? While our politicians go around in helicopters and dishing out millions every Sunday, the majority of Kenyans go without food while children skip school or lose admissions for lack of money or jobs. Why would a mother and a daughter go around looking out for someone to sell blood to while akina Uhuru and Ruto and RAO are roving around selling and pushing BBI down the throat of our poor citizens? SHAME.

you have spoken, 27 pages of BBI cost 10 Billions while many kenyans are starving, this is the last comment I will ever put on this forum, we complain and nothing ever changes

  5. This kind of stories are…
This kind of stories are becoming too frequent. And this is a sad commentary on the state of rich, and well off brothers, and sisters. Really!out of all big shots that spend 5000 shilling amonth on hair, and more on their mistresses cannot have the heart, and compassion to help these very needy children?
How do they feel when they read this kind of stories? I would like to know.Granted, its not their responsibility, but mere human compassion would drive a well off person to help kids in need, like this one.
What happened to free education? Some of these kids and their families are in dire straits for no fault of their own,and this is where the government should step in by instituting programs to help them.
Same thing will happen next year, and the following year.Students will do well, and some will not have tuition to continue. They cannot not all depend on wellshers. Please you ministry of education,do something about this. What’s so hard about issuing free secondary educaton.Put it in the national, budget and trim some of the fats to accommodate this important course. Dont let these kids down.
