Uhuru Extends BBI Taskforce's Term

President Kenyatta has announced the extension of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce’s term.

The extension will allow the 14-member team to widen public participation and formulate actionable implementation plans, according to a statement sent to the media by State House Spokeswoman Kanze Dena on Thursday.

“The Taskforce will, therefore, steer the next phase of the process which will largely involve expanding and guiding public participation, and structuring recommendations by Kenyans into implementable action plans,” the statement read.

The decision to extend the taskforce’s term was made after President Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga held a meeting with the team at State House on Wednesday.

This comes two weeks after President Kenyatta officially unveiled a 156-page report prepared by the BBI taskforce, which is chaired by Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji. The draft report makes among other proposals, the creation of a non-Executive Prime Minister who will be the leader of government business in the National Assembly.

The BBI taskforce was formed in the aftermath of the March 9th, 2018 handshake between Kenyatta and Odinga. The team had been tasked to collect the views of Kenyans on nine key issues affecting the country among them ethnicism, lack of national ethos, inclusivity, devolution, divisive elections, security, corruption, shared prosperity and responsibilities and rights.

Members of the taskforce include Adams Oloo, Agnes Kavindu, Senator Amos Wako, Florence Omose, Saeed Mwanguni, and James Matundura. Others are Major John Seii, Bishop Lawi Imathiu, Maison Leshomo, Senator Mohamed Yusuf Haji, Morompi ole Ronkai Prof., Bishop Peter Njenga, Rose Moseu and Archbishop Zecheus Okot.

  1. Majority of Kenyans know…
Majority of Kenyans know what they want.

They want the British government to re-draw the Kenyan boundary and divide the country into two.

The truth seems to be a bitter pill to swallow for some people.

    Let the people go.

    Bado Mapambano!!

Please don’t curse your ignorant self! Kenya is a unitary entity and it will never go the South Sudan way! Many are working very hard to keep the country together unlike myopic folks like you. Very sad and selfish indeed!
