President Kenyatta has vowed to ensure attackers who killed 11 General Service Unit (GSU) officers on Saturday in Garissa are brought to book.
The 11 security officers lost their lives after the vehicle carrying them during a patrol near the Kenya-Somalia border ran over an improvised explosive device (IED) suspected to have been planted by al-Shabaab militants.
“His Excellency the President last evening received the sad news of the 11 National Police Service Officers brutally killed in Daadab, Garissa County,” State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena said on Sunday.
While assuring support for families of the slain officers, Kenyatta warned that “misguided elements that Kenya will never succumb to their cowardly terrorist actions.”
Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i warned the attackers that Kenya remains unfazed in the fight against terror.
“I extend my deepest sympathies and profound solidarity with the families of our gallant officers who lost their lives in Garrisa last night. Their selfless patriotic sacrifice to serve Kenya renews our resolve in the fight against terror. Kenya remains unbowed,” CS Matiang’i said in a tweet.
The officers drawn from Harhar GSU Camp were conducting a routine security patrol when the attack occurred at Degow on the road between Liboi and Damajale.
Officers from Kenya Defense Forces, Administration Police, Rescue, and Bomb Disposal Unit and regular police were dispatched to the area to pursue the attackers, Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai said.
RIP to fallen police…
RIP to fallen police officers.
I have come to a conclusion that the cure of impunity in Kenya, looting of public funds, landgrabbing , extrajudicial killings, electoral fraudsters and impunity is SUICIDE BOMBERS.
Kenya needs people who will volunteer as SUICIDE BOMBERS to take out al the merchants of impunity , looters , landgrabbers and their sympathizers.
Meanwhile gets money to buy…
