Husband Arrested over Death of MP Gabriel Kago’s Sister

Stephen Ndoro, the husband of Githunguri MP Gabriel Kago’s sister, Jane Murugi was on Friday arrested in connection with her death.

Murugi, a senior nurse stationed in Machakos, was found dead inside a toilet at her home in Membley Estate, Ruiru on Friday morning.

Initial reports suggested the 41-year-old may have committed suicide by hanging but police said they suspect foul play given that she was found seated on the toilet bowl.

The arrest of Ndoro was confirmed by Ruiru OCPD Phineas Mutwiri.

“We have arrested the husband as we investigate how the deceased met her death. Right now we are not taking chances; we cannot rule out the possibility of murder,” Mutwiri told Daily Nation.

Speaking to Daily Nation, MP Kago said they were informed about Murugi’s death by her house help.

“From the look of things and what we found in the bedroom, we suspect that our sister was murdered, and not suicide as police say. There is more than meets the eye,” MP Kago added.

The house help said there was an altercation between Murugi and her husband the previous night but Ndoro asked her to return to her room when she went upstairs to find out what was going on, according to Daily Nation.

She also claimed to have seen Ndoro cleaning her blood-stained hands. Ndoro, 38, is a medical doctor and works in Makueni County.

Murugi, who was reportedly on maternity leave, leaves behind three children, including a two-month-old baby.

Her body was moved to Kenyatta University Funeral Home pending postmortem examination.
