Kenya Rugby 7s Players Frank Wanyama and Alex Olaba Convicted of Gang-Rape

Kenya rugby 7s players Frank Wanyama and Alex Olaba are on Friday set to be sentenced in a case where they were charged with gang-raping a female musician.

This comes after a Nairobi magistrate court on Thursday found the two guilty of gang-rape.

Wanyama and Olaba were accused of gang-raping an upcoming singer at Seefar Apartments in Nairobi on February 10th, 2019.

In a statement recorded with the police, the victim said that on the fateful day, which was her birthday, she attended a party in Nairobi’s Kilimani area where the two rugby players were present.

She said one of the two rugby players was her friend and after a night of merry-making, she went to their house with them.

She claimed the two took advantage of her intoxicated state and raped her repeatedly after refusing to take no for an answer. She got pregnant after the incident.

In their statements, the accused persons insisted that the sexual contact was consensual. The two have been out on Sh500,000 cash bail each after they pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against them.

The two were frozen out of Kenya Rugby 7s team, Shujaa after they were indicted with rape.

Half, baked story! So, who impregnated this alleged victim between these two dudes? They the courts order a DNA test? As though being female is not hard enough; What’s the fun in drinking till intoxicated? What pleasure do one derive from being inebriated or in a toxic state? Moderation is key. Personally, though I know I am entitled to my God given & constitutional rights not to be harmed; I don’t trust anyone to protect my space and those rights! So, I have to be extremely cautious, doing the best I can to protect myself by all means, the rest you leave to God! Not all “friends” have your best interest in every aspects of our lives!

@ GG at this point, who impregnated the lady/victim is not important. That can be acertained later. This woman has aright to be reckless, but the consequences should not involve being raped.A very serious crime. If you are aman imagine 2 big gay men raping you,or taking advantage of your inebriation .
This rugby players driven by hubris, and no one can touch me attitude landed them where they are. When you see someone helpless, help them dont take advantage of them.Infact if they had done that their profile would have been very impressive and commendable in such macho sport known for uncouth behavior.
Apparently the sex was not consensual. The lady proved her case. Now days lawyers with their rapists clients have come to love the defense” it was consensual”.Well, show the evidence.
It comes down to respecting women. No body wants his mother, sister, girlfriend,or daughter violated. So you men with that kind of thinking, learn to respect women.I have seen men in Kenya touch women inappropriately without consent .Such behavior should not be tolerated anywhere.
In todays era, if you dont know how to court alady, error on the side of leaving her alone. Its safer that way. Learn to woe women then try again.Otherwise you will find yourself in very hot water.

For those men or women who think they have a right to violate other people’s rights and livelihood; you are cowards, weak and may you be haunted with your painful actions for the rest of your lives!

Ati kwasababu wanacheza Rugby they can go rapping women especially on their birthday. Funga wao halafu ngo’a matool box yao kasia. Bure kabisa.

You look like grown men but you behaved like animals. Exactly how did an intoxicated lady give consent to two men to do her? And the one who is supposed to be her friend, how could you do that to her? Wanyama na munyama, you both deserve to rot in prison for such a heinous crime.

  5. May be they were intoxicated…
May be they were intoxicated too. And if the rape happened in their own apartment, then the girl too contributed to the rape. A good judge will not convict them like serial rapists. You can’t follow your drunk friend into bedroom to say no when you are already drunk. The Rugby dudes should be slammed with a good fine equal to the bail (500,000) to be given to the girl and the child for healing. Let the boys get back their lives. They have learnt a lesson too.

Your utterance betrays your uttermost stupidity. Hope your are proud behind your keyboard spewing venom and blaming the victim. You must be a shameless rapist. Hope someone rapes you one day. What a waste of space ??

Wow…how did the woman contribute to the rape?@ wanjambi do you know that rape is a very serious crime. You mean to say she participated in harming herself?Actually, idont know if you are serious,or just trying to make the issue more contovercial…
Please read punishment on rape.If you are aman, you better re calibrate your thinking. If nothing else, remember this, “no woman invites rape”.Think of the consequences and walk away.Confounds me.Why would aman want to force himself on awoman? No means no even if accompanied with asmile.Get permission,or go for aprostitute. Safer that going to prison.
