Police in Mombasa on Saturday seized three kilograms of cocaine whose value is estimated to be more than Sh11 million.
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the drug substance was found at a private residence in Mombasa’s Kisauni estate. DCI said detectives raided the house following a tip-off from members of the public.
During the multi-agency operation, police managed to arrest two suspects identified as Juma Suleiman, 47, and 59-year-old Bashur Omar. DCI said the drugs had been concealed in a suitcase containing clothing.
“Following intelligence, detectives recovered a suitcase from the residence of the accused persons containing assorted clothing,” DCI said in a statement.
“Upon further search, they discovered false bottoms on the sides of the suitcase containing a whitish substance that tested positive for cocaine.”
Police have launched further investigations to gather more information related to the nabbed narcotics. The two suspects will be arraigned and charged in court on Monday.
