Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth has returned to the country after an extended medical trip abroad.
Okoth graced the annual Kibra Music Festival on Sunday alongside Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja.
“Joined my brother Ken Okoth and the people of Kibra for an exciting Music Festival earlier today. Welcome back home bro and thanks for the amazing job you and your team have been doing. Your strength and your determination inspire us all,” Sakaja wrote on Facebook.
Okoth, who is battling colorectal cancer, has been away for more than five months receiving treatment in Europe.
The 41-year-old politician won the hearts of many Kenyans after courageously sharing details of his battle with cancer.
He has constantly been updating Kenyans on his medical condition as well as monitoring various development projects in his constituency.
In March, Okoth noted that chemotherapy drugs were brutal on his skin and immune system.
“Napambana na hali yangu kabisa. Chemo drugs are brutal on the skin and immunity system,” he captioned a photo while responding to a Twitter user who had tweeted him asking about his condition.
In an interview early this year, Okoth said the cancer was discovered at a very advanced stage and cannot be cured, just managed.
“I was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer with metastases to the liver,” he said.
“I will be using chemotherapy tablets every morning. Because my disease was discovered at a very advanced stage, it cannot be cured. It can only be managed,” Okoth added.
Wishing you good health Mr…
Wishing you good health Mr. Ken Okoth! My only issue is why do most politicians fly outside Kenya to seek medical treatment? Don’t they trust Kenya’s healthcare system? And if it is so, then who is to fix this but the same politicians? Such a good example set by politicians. Ask yourself, what is a common mwananchi to do if they get sick and cannot leave the country? Don’t you see anything wrong thing with that? This has been happening waytoo long, its way overdue! Everyone gets sick at some point in their life. Please let us nit be fools that never learn and fix our healthcare system to a level politicians themselves will trust their own lives with it and only you politicians can do it!
