Woman Rep. Gathoni Wamuchomba Wants Elected Leaders Forced to Seek Treatment in Public Hospitals

Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba has called for the enactment of a law that requires elected leaders and government officials to seek treatment in local public hospitals.

Wamuchomba made the proposal in her submissions to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce, which was formed following the handshake between President Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The politician argued that the move would force leaders to improve the quality of services offered in public health facilities.

Wamuchomba said it was unfortunate to see politicians fly out of the country for quality treatment abroad on taxpayers’ cash as Kenyans suffer in poorly maintained public hospitals.

“Such a requirement is the only way that will make leaders become serious in addressing the plight of people who are currently suffering due to the pathetic and deplorable conditions of many public hospitals,” said Wamuchomba.

She also called for lowering of the maximum age limit for Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) from the current 35 years to 28.

This, she argued, will make it possible for more youth to empower themselves economically.

Wamuchomba further proposed the creation of the office of an executive prime minister, who will be head of government.

very good idea but the chances of it being enacted by parliament is close to nil, it is way overdue though, their kids should also be mandated to go to public schools and cannot go outside the country for higher studies. Indeed even a step forward would to eliminate private schools all together or make public universities slots only available for kids who attended public schools.
