Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a 30-year-old man suspected to be behind the murder of Hellen Kwamboka, a police constable attached to Parliament Police Station.
The suspect identified as Erick Onyono Nyakundi was nabbed on Saturday at his hideout in Suam area, near the Kenya-Uganda border.
“DCI Detectives from Buruburu today morning arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the brutal killing of Police Constable Hellen Kwamboka on the night of 23rd May 2019,” the investigators said.
The DCI said detectives have been trailing the suspect for the last one week. He allegedly fled on the night the policewoman was killed.
The lifeless body of Ms. Kwamboka was found on her bed in Nairobi’s Umoja Estate on May 24th, with a deep cut on her head.
Police said they found blood splashed all over the house.
Police suspect the deceased was first strangled before being hacked. No murder weapon was recovered from the scene.
