Gov't Releases List of VIPs Entitled to Special Clearance on Kenyan Roads

Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has released a list of VIPs who are entitled to special clearance on Kenyan roads during traffic jams.

The five-category list has named all persons who should get special treatment on roads and highways during traffic snarl-ups.
    
Category one comprises of the President, Deputy President, First Lady, Chief Justice, Attorney-General and Cabinet Secretaries for Interior, Defense and Foreign Affairs as well as Principal Secretary for Interior. 

The Chief of Defence Forces, Service Commanders of Defence Forces, Inspector-General of the National Police Service, Deputy Inspector-General of the Kenya Police Service, Deputy Inspector-General of the Administration Police Service fall under category two.

VIPs who enjoy road clearance under category three are; National Assembly Speaker, Senate Speaker, and National Assembly Majority Leader.

Category four include retired Presidents and retired Prime Ministers while category five comprises of ambulances and fire brigade.

“All other vehicles including government vehicles are expected to follow the normal traffic flow. Any Government vehicles found violating traffic regulations especially those overlapping the drivers shall be arrested and charged in accordance with the law,” stated Mutyambai.

Governors, Senators, some Cabinet Secretaries, and Principal Secretaries among others have been left out of the list.

    In my opinion only the president vice president and the military head should have the clearance. There importance is obvious.But for the rest idont see the significance other than swelling their egos.
