Drama at Funeral Parlor as Four Kenyan Women Fight for Boda-Boda Man’s Body,

Drama ensued in Kirinyaga County on Wednesday afternoon after four women turned out at a funeral parlor to claim the body of a deceased man.

Each of the four women claimed to be the wife of 32-year-old Peter Mwangi Gichobi, a boda-boda operator who passed away on April 28th in a road crash along Nyangati-Embu road.

Things turned chaotic after the four failed to agree who among them would receive a burial permit for the deceased.

Three of the women have been identified as Janet Wambui from Kagio; Lydia Wanjiru from Kutus; Susan Wakuthii from Ngurubani.

The identity of the fourth woman, who hails from Kimbimbi was not immediately established.

A physical fight among the women followed the deadlock, with some of them sustaining minor injuries.

It took the intervention of police officers from Kerugoya post to stop the fight.

The funeral home’s management decided to only allow the deceased’s immediate family member to sign for the collection of the remains.

The four allowed the deceased’s uncle, Stanley Ngigi, to bury him at his home in Ngomongo Village in Kirinyaga Central sub-County.

This was after the deceased’s family promised to include them in the sharing of his wealth.

Gichobi’s body was buried on Wednesday afternoon with each of the four women, who had at least one son with the deceased, attending.

Gichobi was not living with any of the four ladies at the time of his passing.

Siku za mababu zetu, mambo kama haya hayakuwapo. Haya ndiyo matunda ya kutotumia akili tuliyo nayo vichwani mwetu.

Isn’t there anything these women can provide to indicate marriage?Even if traditional there has to be some way other than the certificate…
Why not employ the wisdom of Solomon and decide to cut the body 4 ways…

The late Mr Gichobi must have been a man and a half. How could he keep four women concurrently happy despite the fact that he was living with none of them?
Wealth should be shared equally by all his children with the women as trustees
