Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested five people in connection with the theft of millions of shillings from Barclays Bank ATMs in Nairobi.
The five suspects are employees of Barclays Bank and G4S Security Company.
The Daily Nation reports that the five suspects were apprehended on Mama Ngina Street where the fourth robbery is said to have happened.
The bank lost more than Sh11 million after four ATMs located in different parts of the city were interfered with on Saturday.
The machines are located in Buruburu, Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), The Mater Hospital in South B and along Mama Ngina Street.
Investigators have established that the ATMs were all robbed hours after being reloaded with cash.
Two of the affected ATMs did not have CCTV cameras while one was unmanned at the time of the robbery.
Detectives are also questioning why it took the bank’s staff more than five hours to report the incidents.
Nairobi County Police Commander Philip Ndolo said none of the four ATMs were physically broken into.
