Retired President Daniel Moi's Fist-Born Son Jonathan Passes Away

Retired President Daniel Arap Moi’s first-born son, Jonathan has passed away in Nakuru at the age of 66.

Moi’s Press Secretary Lee Njiru says Jonathan succumbed to cancer at a hospital in Nakuru, Citizen Digital reports.

“I have been asked by the Moi family to tell Kenyans to respect their privacy at this mourning period of their beloved kin,” says Njiru.

Jonathan’s brother, Senator Gideon Moi has described the safari rally enthusiast as a social, industrious and down-to-earth person.

“Jonathan will be remembered for his daring exploits in the racing tracks, in muddy and dusty tracks, during this time of Easter,” says Gideon Moi in a statement.

“We are distraught as a family and we ask for your prayers and seek your understanding and indulgence to allow us to mourn privately.”

Jonathan has stayed away from the public limelight since he unsuccessfully run for Eldama Ravine parliamentary seat in 2002.

He chose to focus on running his businesses in the agriculture, real estate, and insurance sectors.

His love for Safari Rally saw him participate in several competitions.

He was the first-born son to former President Moi and his late wife Lena.

His siblings are Gideon, Jennifer, John Mark, Raymond, Philip, June, and Doris.

Ndugu @Mwororo: Umenichekesha sana uliposema, ” Oh boy, we really love the names our masters gave us. ” His siblings are: Gideon, Jennifer, John Mark, Reymond, Philip,June and Doris”

  3. Every time Moi’s name comes…
Every time Moi’s name comes up in media, immemorable jitters erodes my tattered memory when I recall what Moi did to Kenyans for 24 years. Did Kenya and Kenyans forgave him? Well, that up to you to decide. But the pain he inflicted to poor and vulnarable peasants in the name of holding on to power, stings the conscience of bereaved families todate. And it was during Moi’s era that corruption took a new architectural designs. From the usual Kenyattas artisanship in land scams, where wazungus would be given 48hrs to leave Kenya, or be deported, thereby taking over thousands of hectares of virgin land including the bungalows and livestock and every other development thereon. It was Moi who taught his children how to steal, loot and grab everything that came their way, unlike Kenyatta, Ngina, Ole Tipis,Gichuru, Koinange, Kihika, GG, Kibaki, Ntimama, Oloitiptip, Mudavadi, Angaine, Ngala, Jaramogi, Mutisya, Muhoho, who technically and dubiously amassed huge tracks of land for their future generations. The way God works is still a mystery to me. That whatever pain you inflict on any human being on this world( in this case Kenya and Kenyans), someday, someweek, someyear, or however long it takes, malipo ni hapa hapa. Its at this time that I remember such heroic Kenyans who stood their ground and sacrificed their lives for the sake of the Kenyan people. Rest in peace victims of the so called ethic clashes of 1982,1987, 1988, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007/2008, JM family, Tom Mboyas, Bishop Muge, Father Kaiser, Robert Ouko, etc. The extintion of of many the the most vibrant corporations like the KPLC, KFA, ADC, KEFRI, KEMRI, KCPB, KPLC, KENYA PIPELINE, ICDC, KENYA RAILWAYS, NHC, etc, under Moi’s owled-eyed watch, was sickening. Yet with all that stolen wealth, yet with all those pain(s) that impoverished Kenyans as I write, Moi and his circle of greedy people, they still die, suffer immensely, and leaves everything here on earth, while fools eulogize them in praise and worship to appease on to themselves. They all bow our heads and pray. ” Ooooh Lord the Maker of heaven and earth………., Amen

    • best comment I have seen in…
best comment I have seen in a long time, how many ordinary kenyans died the same day and no mention of them, this is a family that terrorized kenyans for many years but you will not hear of that even after his Dad is dead.. I cannot remember anything good from Moi years and very little from Uhuruto era
