Senior NTSA Officers Fired, over 200 Transferred in Major Shakeup

The recently appointed National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) board has fired several senior officers in a major shakeup at the State agency.

In a statement, the board says the changes are aimed at improving efficiency in the delivery of services by the agency.

“In the coming weeks, we shall be advertising key management positions aimed at improving our capacity to meet stakeholder expectations.”

“The positions to be filled are; Director Registration and Licensing, Director Road Safety, Deputy supply Chain, Deputy Director Motor vehicle Inspection, Manager Supply Chain and Manager ICT,” the statement reads.

NTSA Chairman Jackson Waweru says a total of 227 officials in the motor vehicle inspection and registration department have also been transferred.

“The Board is committed to orienting the Authority towards increased levels of accountability and performance; and to execute sustainable measures for enhancing efficient, reliable and safe roads in Kenya,” he states.

The changes come a month after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i disbanded the previous board and appointed a new six-member team.

The six include John Ndege Obwocha, Catherine Njeri Waweru, Alice Chepchumba Chesire, Francis Kirinya Mwongo, Moses Nderitu Gachemi, and Meshak Kidenda.

The move also comes after a scheme involving the issuance of fake car registration numbers and the double listing of vehicles by rogue NTSA staff was unearthed.

Several officers are currently facing charges in relation to illegal and double registration of cars.

    That’s great.

Next stop please; Clean up the MINISTRY OF LANDS.
Citizens have suffered for years from the corrupt officers who aid criminals to rob and sell land of others using fake documents.

Also, paid land Rent never gets credited causing uncertainty and time wastage for land and property owners.

    Clean up please.
