Get Rich Quick Mentality Ruining Kenya's Future, Says President Kenyatta

President Kenyatta has linked the rampant cases of corruption and theft of public resources in the country to get rich quick mentality among Kenyans.

Speaking in Murang’a during the burial of Mzee Kamau Kabugi, Kenyatta says the increased cases of corruption by government officials is due to the high appetite for quick riches.

Kenyatta says Kenyans must learn to lead honest lives and seek wealth through hard work.

“We will not reach where we want to reach as a nation if we do not abandon the get rich quick mentality,” says Uhuru.

He has also called on Kenyans to play an active role in the war against graft.

“We have no other option but to fight corruption because Kenyans need roads, hospitals, and jobs. The taxes we collect from Kenyans must work for the public.”

While calling on the judiciary to play its part in the purge on corruption, the President has also reiterated his commitment to taming the vice.

He says Mzee Kabugi is an example of Kenyans who earned their wealth purely on hard work.

“He became successful because of hard work and, respect to his family and all Kenyans.”

Mzee Kabugi transformed from a hawker of eggs to a successful businessman with investments in real estate and petroleum sectors.

  1. Though the speech was in a…
Though the speech was in a burial ceremony in the heartland, I am just curious why the most touchy and weighty things were said in mother tongue. There is something unsettling to have to wait for reporter’s transcriptions of the speech. I laud Baba for being forthright and giving perspective that day. All the same, actions speak louder than words. For the bad guys it is business as usual, We talk they steal, we talk more another scandal evolves, we swear they laugh, we threaten action they dare us by their bold thievery action, we talk big 4 they talk 2022, we talk legacy they talk inheritance. Haya majibizano yataisha lini?
We are only this way once and all the good we can do let it be done now-not tomorrow, another day or indefinite future.

  2. Uhuru, all you needed to do…
Uhuru, all you needed to do was walk a few steps down the hall of the State House to your deputy’s office and passed on the message. Not to Murang’a people who are the victims of this vice. Ask him to return the 7 Billion he has recently stolen to buy towels and sheets for his seashore hotel in Mombasa.

  3. Stop yapping and do the job…
Stop yapping and do the job for which you were elected to do – leading and protecting the country, including it’s resources. You are too chicken Bw Uhuru, way too soft. You totally lack confidence and you don’t even come close to a typical Kikuyu MAN! Giving us explanations as to why Kenyans are stealing right, left and center is balderdash…get to work, the buck stops with YOU! Or you do a noble thing and resign ukubali umeshindwa na kazi.
Let me tell you where the rains started beating you – when you got to State House, you correctly identified corruption as the biggest ailment facing the country and you made a promise your administration would eradicate it within no time. But 6 years later, it’s grown worse. Reason is YOUR WEAK CHARACTER – you lack balls, Mr President, you lack resolve, Mr President, you don’t know how to roar like the lion you are supposed to be. Humbembelezi Wakenya wala rushwa, you have the law amended to accommodate the death penalty for economic crimes of the magnitude in your government right now. You NEVER EVER use the words, “Mnataka nifanye nini?” or “mkifanya hivyo tena mtaona” These are the rants of a tail-between-the-legs weakling. I don’t fault you for being in love with the Ruaraka waters – you just need to be very careful, you never ever show your subjects you ever imbibe them even if you drown in them in private. Be serious for once Mr President, Kenya has 45 million souls looking up to you to safeguard their present and their future. Or give our types a chance to clean up your system.
If nothing works, go Mafia style – anybody who steals public funds is quietly made to DISSAPEAR for good. It works – once the first 2 or 3 or 4 looters vanish, the problem dies a natural death. At the point we are as a nation, sacrificing a few greedy lives is very much ok.
But you may not be willing to do all this because you rightly feel you and your family have benefitted immensely from the loot over the decades. So, I humbly request you to simply RESIGN and go home

  4. Uhuru no one buys your talk…
Uhuru no one buys your talk on corruption scandals anymore. They’re just SOS!

If you real not involved in or mean good for the poor working class of Kenya, the only option is make an Executive Order to curb corruption at all levels.

You heard clearly from CJ Maranga for the second time now that without concrete evidence the case will be kicked out. So please move the way forward from this judicial circus

Therefore the Order should entailed as once one is accused of should be spontaneously resignation from the post and/or jail term to pave way for investigation. Additionally repossession of the looted fund to be immediately launched and later on publicly declared.
The least is for every government and parastatl employees needs to declared they worth in a interval period of 2 to 3 years so as to maintain they lucrative post.

  5. Yes, the get “Rich quickly…
Yes, the get “Rich quickly mentality” by our leaders and vanity is ruining the country. Our leaders, MPIG’s, Governors, MCA’s, Judges and all other government employees as soon as they are elected, they are able to take unnecessary trips overseas, be treated overseas, buy huge cars, built mansions and donate millions to morally bankrupt churches.
Curb our leaders foreign appetite and Kenya will be peaceful.
    God help Kenya!!!

    Mathew 7:5 says
    Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye;
and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
When was the last time you and the extended family “seek wealth through hard work”? Looting and betting are the only two growth areas in your failed economy. Kenya will pay a very high price for electing you.

  8. Waswahili husema, “Mkono…
Waswahili husema, “Mkono mtupu haulambwi.”

Absolutely right! the birds of same feathers flock together.

Ni wazi kweupe huu ni ushirikina wa hali ya juu baina ya Uhuru na Ruto kwa uwizi wa pesa za uma.

So Mr. President just be quite henceforth on this and newly scandals evolve on the country. No need to hear your SOS!

We’re demanding a firm Executive Order to curb down corruption at all level of the government agency posts.
