Police have arrested four members of a gang that was captured by CCTV cameras breaking into a car at Jambo Hotel in Murang’a.
The four, including three women and one man, have been apprehended after a video showing them break into a vehicle at the hotel went viral on social media.
In the video, the four are seen driving into the hotel’s parking lot in a white Toyota Fielder car bearing registration number KCK 693T.
They then inspect all the parked cars to identify those with valuable items.
The man quickly breaks into a red car using a master key before stealing some items.
He then hands what appears to be handbags to one of the women, who takes the items to their vehicle.
The four drive away from the hotel after accomplishing the mission that takes less than six minutes.
Police say the four were arrested in Roysambu, Nairobi and are identified as Joseph Kuria Wangari, Rosaline Wangari Mwihaki, Jane Muthoni Ndung’u and Rose Wairimu Kibato.
The four suspects are all above 45 years and hail from Murang’a and Naivasha counties.
They have been arraigned in Murang’a Court and the judge has allowed police to detain them for five days pending completion of investigations into their criminal activities.
