Airport safety officials have launched investigations into circumstances leading to the collision of two aircraft at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Saturday.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) Director-General Gilbert Kibe says the two Embraer planes belonging to national carrier Kenya Airways collided while undergoing maintenance.
“We will find out what went wrong and we will mitigate to ensure it does not happen again,” Captain Kibe says adding that no injuries have been reported.
Kibe says the incident could lead to disruption of services at JKIA, including cancellation of some flights.
“Some flights will likely be canceled. Every aeroplane has something that it’s doing every day. If two are not available, that will really mess up the schedule,” he says.
“We hope that the flights will come back to normal as soon as possible.”

This is so pathetic and disturbing;if our engineers CAN NOT prevent such an incidence on the ground, how can they be trusted in the sky?.What we are witnessing here is the effect of corruption. Most of these engineers bought their diplomas and this will kill KQ. That’s why the Chinese are hesitating to hand over the SGR trains to the locals.
