Raila Says He May Not Run for the Presidency in 2022

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has slammed those dragging his name into 2022 succession debate saying that he will not be a presidential candidate in the next election.

Odinga, who was recently appointed African Union’s special envoy in charge of infrastructure development, says his focus is on uniting the country through his March 9th handshake with President Kenyatta.

“I have never said I will run for the presidency in 2022, I will not say it and I am not a candidate in 2022 so give me a break,” Odinga said when he attended a church service in Nyamira County.

Odinga has urged leaders to leave his name out of 2022 succession politics, stating that he will declare his stand when the time comes.

“We will deal with the matter when the right time comes. Allow me and President Uhuru to unite the country.”

The ODM party leader says leaders should concentrate on transforming Kenyans’ lives instead of putting the country in a permanent campaign mood.

However, leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto claims Odinga is using the handshake to position himself ahead of 2022 Presidential race.

“The old saying goes that if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. So for Raila Odinga, his words are meant to hoodwink political novices,” says Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.

“For those who are in the know, he (Raila) is acting, walking and behaving like a candidate albeit with a cunning tag called handshake.”

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei says Odinga is using the handshake to resuscitate his dwindling political influence.

“The jury is out. The Nasa leader is using the handshake to resurrect his weakening political career by creating a moribund and ineffective agenda such as the Building Bridges Initiatives and an unnecessary referendum aimed at making him stay afloat politically and relevant to his supporters that’s why he can’t hold on to a specific position,” Cherargei notes.

For once I agree with the old fool. They need to focus on the work at hand and leave the campaign nearer the time. I sense their will be a sacrificial lamb to this handshake! Watch out Ruto & co!

The Handshake was the signal that the people’s Republic of Kenya needs a new leader.

The search for the new leader began with The Handshake.

Soon we will usher in the new leader.

    See you in the future.

“…Na tukae na udugu amani na uhuru, raha tupate na ustawi.”

Wakati sasa umefika wa kuipata viongozi wapya katika nchi yetu tukufu. Nawaombeni ndugu zangu tumpeleke ikulu ndugu yetu Kivutha Kibwana. Ndugu huyu (Kivutha) atatuletea, “…udugu, umoja, maendeleo, raha, usalama, na ustawi.”

In good wisdom, Baba is playing his cards close to his chest. Declaring his interest this early, would easily plunge the country into electioneering mood. Who needs that uncertainty anyway after experiencing political tranquility after the golden handshake? On the other hand in the absence of “will run” declaration from Baba those allied to DP find themselves in abyss.

This is good news for the country and his fervent supporters though they may not realise. The man was MP for Kibera for decades and there is nothing to show. The current MP in less than one term has accomplished than Tinga did. Despite his stranglehold on the population and politicians in Nyanza there is hardly anything to show as gar as he is concerned. If he cared even the slightest for his minions he would make hycinth, migingo amd sugar his top priorities.

    Bure kabisa
