President Uhuru Dons Kenya Military Full-Service Dress Uniform during 55th Jamhuri Day Celebrations

President Kenyatta turned up for this year’s Jamhuri Day Celebrations at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi wearing Kenya Army Full-Service Dress Uniform.

State House explains that the President donned the Red Tunic in his capacity as the  Commander-in-Chief of the defense forces as he was set to hand over a military flag to the 17th battalion, a new military squad based in Garissa. Kenyatta has also presented the battalion with presidential and regimental colors.

Former presidents; Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi wore the full-service dress uniform but was not the case for third President Mwai Kibaki. A President wearing military uniform is mainly seen as a display of might especially if the nation is at war.

Here’s what a section of Kenyans on social media have to say about President Uhuru’s dressing at the event.

Muthithe Kagondu says: “Only the regalia look good for him, anything else, Uhuru is a big letdown.”

Baba Chloë notes: “He looks like Jamal alfayed from tyrant.”

Murugi Njeru writes:” He looks good. But if what am reading about the individuals to receive the HSC is true then we need to close this country for renovations because its a joke.”

Rodgers Katana notes: “I wish he could make our pockets and lives more colorful like his military wear .”

Yatzak Kole Pitah says: “He really looks smart. A real general.’

That is not a uniform. It is a costume. He has no military training. Such a clown.

@Guest1… I disagree. His father oozed class, commanded respect and donned his outfits like no other. Some are born leaders, others are made. I like Uhuru, lakini…….. Anyway, I was watching some old clips of Mzee and was mesmerised by his voice….he was one of a kind that’s for sure, whatever sins he may have been accused. Uhuru here reminds me of Amin dada….not cute at all….
