Police have gunned down a criminal suspected to be behind the killing of a police officer.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) says the unnamed suspect killed a police officer before escaping with his firearm.
The DCI says the gangster was gunned down by detectives who trailed him to his his hideout in Githurai Kimbo, after receiving a tip-off. A pistol and nine rounds of ammunition were recovered during the raid.
“Detectives working on a tip-off, yesterday (Friday) trailed an armed gangster who had killed a police officer and escaped with his pistol,” the DCI says in a tweet on Saturday.
“He was put to sleep at his hideout in Githurai Kimbo when he defied an order to surrender,” the DCI adds.
