Embu Governor Martin Wambora is on the spot for allegedly supplying county health centres with condoms worth more than Sh30 million.
Wambora has come under fire from a section of Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) who claim that the Governor supplied the contraceptives, disguised as drugs.
Minority Leader and Kiambere Ward Representative Leonard Mwaniki says Wambora recently flagged off a truck claiming that it was carrying medicine, but it was discovered they were condoms after the consignment was opened in one of the county health dispensaries.
“It is sad that residents are in need of drugs but the county has the audacity to ferry a canter full of condoms to the health facilities,” says Mwaniki.
Mwaniki has questioned the logic behind the Governor’s move, given that most of the county health centers lack basic painkillers.
Kagaari South MCA Robert Ireri says he visited Ugweri Hospital and found several boxes of condoms yet the medical facility has not been supplied with drugs in the last few months.
What became of Kenyans…
What became of Kenyans. Politicians are making absolutely illogical decisions contrary to public welfare. First supply the necessities. Basic medicines are a necessity. These politicians ought to resign and go back to the countryside.
