Eight firearms, electronic gadgets and several bank statements are among items confiscated by detectives during a raid of Governor Okoth Obado’s homes in Nairobi and Migori.
The sleuths from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) found five guns in his Nairobi residence and three in Migori, Daily Nation reports.
The officers stormed Obado’s residences on Tuesday morning in search of documents that could aid investigations into the alleged siphoning of Sh2 billion from Migori County government coffers by the Governor and his proxies.
Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti says the firearms will be subjected to ballistic scrutiny at the Central Firearms Bureau (CFB) to ascertain whether they were held legally.
The operation was staged under tight security by a team of 60 officers from drawn from Kisii and Nairobi offices.
EACC spokesperson Yassin Amaro says crucial documents relating to the matter under investigation were recovered during the operation that lasted for hours. The officers also raided various offices at the Migori County headquarters.
Obado is fighting to clear his name in another case where he’s charged with the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno and her seven-month-old unborn baby.
The Governor was in a romantic relationship with the 26-year-old student before she was abducted and brutally killed.
Why is this crook roaming…
Why is this crook roaming around the country. He should be in jail somewhere.
The other day I suggested…
The other day I suggested that Migori’s Governor Okoth Obado may be a Serial killer and he is an extremely dangerous person. When I did that I had no guess that in two days detectives would storm his home and find a cache of illegal weapons. The more I look at Mr. Obado the more I am getting an image of prolific serial killer. In fact, to be a serial killer one does not necessarily have to be a mass murder. The FBI for example, defines serial killing as “a series of two or more murders, committed as separate events, usually, but not always, by one offender acting alone or in a conspiracy”.Although psychological gratification is the usual motive for serial killing, and most serial killings involve sexual contact with the victim, the FBI states that the motives of serial killers can include anger, thrill-seeking, financial gain, and attention seeking. The murders may be attempted or completed in a similar fashion. The victims may have something in common, for example, demographic profile, appearance, gender or race. A serial killer is neither a mass murderer, nor a spree killer, although there may be conceptual overlaps between serial killers and spree killer. There is no doubt Mr. Obado’s is a homicidal maniac as his profile seem to suggest the question is how many people has he killed
You may be right cos this is…
You may be right cos this is the same guy who used to shoot at his opponents (case in point Joho) when they went to campaign in Migori, a county he treated like his house. Then Sharon Otieno murder + her unborn child and attempted murder on the journalist. His bestie happens to be arap Mangamanga with whom they share lots in common.
