President Kenyatta says he will name his preferred presidential candidate come 2022.
Speaking in Nyeri county after meeting leaders drawn from Mt Kenya region, the President has hit out at politicians who are traversing the country campaigning for certain presidential hopefuls.
Kenyatta has told the leaders to first focus on serving Kenyans who elected them before thinking of 2022 succession politics. “Don’t think I’m a fool by keeping silent on issues of politics; I will give my voice come 2022,” Kenyatta said while speaking in Kikuyu.
The President’s remarks appears to have been directed at leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
Ruto allies mainly from Mt Kenya and Rift Valley regions have been drumming up support for the Deputy President’s bid to succeed Kenyatta come 2022.
The boy in statehouse shows…
The boy in statehouse shows kenyans once again how out of touch and out of his depth he is. You have nothing to show for the two terms you have been there except for corruption and debts.
Ndugu Uhuru: Siyo kazi yako…
Me. President, I hope it…
Me. President, I hope it doesn’t mean you are ditching Ruto. If it’s Ruto, that’s no surprise. If it’s Raila, it’s no surprise either. Anyone else is.
