Kenyan Who Took the Viral Video of Chinese Boss Insulting President Uhuru Loses His Job

Richard Ochieng, the man who took a video of his Chinese boss insulting President Uhuru and calling Kenyans monkeys has lost his job.

Ochieng captured Liu Jiaqi, the former Sonlink CEO making racist remarks against the President and Kenyans, leading to his deportation after the video went viral on social media.

Ruiru-based Sonlink Kenya, a company that deals motorcycles, has not renewed Ochieng’s contract after the previous one expired.

Ochieng says contracts of all the other employees have been renewed except his and attributes this to the video that landed his former boss and the company in trouble.

“Sonlink failed to renew my contract. Everybody else was retained except me. I attribute that to the fact that I am the one who recorded their colleague calling us monkeys,” he tells Standard Digital.

Left jobless, the 26-year-old says he has relocated his rural home in Homabay County. Sonlink declined to respond to enquiries by The Standard on why Ochieng was let go.

Last month, Sonlink disassociated itself from the remarks made by Jiaqi, terming them personal.

“Sonlink has strived to foster harmonious working relations. Sonlink Limited wishes to sincerely apologise to the Kenyan people for the utterances made in the video clip,” the company said in a statement.

These Chinese just don’t get it. This guy should be given his job back if we are going to have more whistle blowers in the country. They are trying to intimidate those left behind so someone in the government has to stand up and say this should not fly.

Kuna msemo katika lugha ya Kiingereza unaosema:

“Freedom of speech does not include Freedom from the consequences.”

Yafaa serikali ya Kenya imsaidie huyu Ndugu yetu Ochieng ili apate kazi kwenye kampuni hiyo hiyo iliyomfukuza.

Ndugu Matinag’i: Amka popote ulipo ili umsaidie Ochieng kupata kazi yake tena. Shujaa huyu ndiye aliyekujulisha maneno ambayo Liu Jiaqi aliyosema halafu ukamfukuza kutoka nchini.

  4. Sad. The Chinese absolutely…
Sad. The Chinese absolutely hate freedom of speech and thought and expect everyone to kowtow to their wickedness way they do in Beijing. Richard Ochieng is a brave Kenyan and we should all be very proud of what he did for his country – bringing forth to light the extent of contempt and mistreatment meted out to Kenyans by these yellows. I appeal to anyone who might have a job connection somewhere to help this young man find gainful employment. Meanwhile, I appeal to Mwakilishi to provide his contacts (phone number) in case one of us finds something for this young man. Beyond this, all of us who call ourselves MEN should ready ourselves to physically kick these brats out whenever they mistreat us. I just don’t know why I never come across this ‘coz it’s been a while since I last sparred with anyone …can’t wait

  5. I think Kenyan are…
I think Kenyan are tolerating Chinese very much. In sgr we are going through hell. racism, discrimination, exam torture and gender biasness. we have gone to many government officials including krc and Senate committee of transport but the conditions are getting worse because no action is taken against them. #bora uhai.

  6. Did Uhuru do anything after…
Did Uhuru do anything after being called a monkey by the chinese?

That is your president for you. That chinese couldn’t have been more that 18years old and the president did nothing. If a Kenyan did half that he would face more than the law.

That is what is called an inferiority complex, or low self esteem.

Babu Owino is a member of the political class and what he was doing was politicking. He was hounded though for a while by the likes of Jagua and Kuria and eventually made up as all politicians do after riling up the masses.
