Succession Deal with Ruto Still Intact, President Uhuru Says

President Kenyatta has dismissed claims of theexistence of cracks between him and Deputy President William Ruto.

The President accuses the media of advancing a false narrative that Jubilee party is split, with Kenyatta’s allies on one side and Ruto’s camp on the other.

Kenyatta has also assured supporters that the succession deal between him and the Deputy President is still intact and urged them to ignore false reports by the press.

“I am surprised that the leadership of this region has the time to read half-baked stories about splits in Jubilee. I advise our supporters to ignore whatever is written in the newspapers,” President Uhuru says.

“Do not be worried; the Jubilee agenda will continue. All the decisions I make are for the benefit of the country.”

Uhuru, who attended a fundraiser for the Anglican Church of Kenya in Kapsabet, Nandi County on Sunday, was responding to a section of Rift Valley MPs who sought his assurance that he is still behind Ruto’s bid for the presidency in 2022.

“We have been true to the Jubilee agenda and have laid our 100 per cent trust in your leadership as our President and coalition partner. As Rift Valley leaders, we continue to push for a Ruto presidency in 2022,” Nandi Senator Samson Cherargey said at the function.

Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen said: “A lot has been printed in the media that the Jubilee house is shaky. We would like to see you stand firm as a united team despite many odds.”
