Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe and her fiancée Joseph “Jowie” Irungu will spend seven more days.
On Wednesday, Justice James Wakiaga ordered the two be detained pending a hearing and determination of their application for bail set for October 24th.
“Probation officers should prepare and submit pre-bail report,” Justice Wakiaga said.
The judge further directed that Irungu be treated at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
Justice Wakiaga will preside over the case after his counterpart Jessie Lessit, who was handling the case, ordered the matter be heard by another judge.
Justice Wakiaga also warned the media against publishing unauthenticated reports about the case.
“The family says they have complained about the untrue stories or information where we do not know where they get them from,” he said.
Irungu and Maribe were on Monday charged with the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani but they pleaded not guilty.
Maribe is fighting to be freed on bail on grounds that she is a single mother and the sole provider for her four-year-old son.
“There are no compelling reasons whatsoever that can deny me bond. I’m a well-known TV journalist. Most Kenyans are conversant with my job and can easily spot me anywhere; therefore, making it impossible to jump bail,” she says.
Monica was murdered at her house in Nairobi’s Kilimani estate hours after returning to the country from South Sudan where she run a family business. Her lifeless body was found dumped in a bathtub with hands and legs tied, and throat slit.
One more week? Better they…
One more week? Better they be kept there until they are found Innocent (to be Released) or Guilty (to be Locked up for the Rest of their Lives).
Our country is changing…
Our country is changing mdogo mdogo, let’s be honest. Though we are taking baby steps, we are headed the right direction. I say this because l see influential people spending at least 2 weeks in remand, l mean the likes of Obado. I hope very soon we will be able to send them to prison.

You should have thought of…
You should have thought of your kid before plotting a murder. That is no excuse to be let free ati you are a well known journalist nonsense when people jump bail they leave the country and change their appearance. You or your fiance took a life your perceived celebrity status is no excuse for what you did.Do not do the crime if you cannot handle the time.I do not know if you or her where the side dish or she was killed for the money either way hope justice will prevail.
Single mother? Nah AN …
Single mother? Nah AN ‘ENGAGED’MURDER IS WHAT YOU ARE.Oh, and definitely A MILLION COMPELLING REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BE DENIED BAIL, LIKE PLAUSIBLE EVIDENCE OF INVOLVEMENT IN COLD BLOODED MURDER , BEFORE AND /OR AFTER THE FACT. SHIIIT, YOU NEED TO BE LOCKED UP FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR KID. We don’t wanna read about a domestic murder suicide with a note explaining why your coward ass had to take your kid with you bs
