Citizen TV News Anchor Jacque Maribe Reveals What Happened on the Night Businesswoman Monica Kimani was Killed

Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe has opened up on the events that happened between her and her fiancée Joseph ‘Jowie’ Irungu on the night of business lady Monica Kimani’s murder.

In a sworn affidavit presented in court, the journalist reveales how she first met her boyfriend at a Jubilee Party event in Nairobi.

“He used to work as a VIP security to Madam Joyce Lay, the former Taita Taveta Woman Representative. He was residing at BuruBuru Phase III with his two friends,” she says, adding that he previously worked as a private military in Dubai full-time.

She further confirms that indeed Irungu shot himself on the chest at her apartment in Nairobi’s Lang’ata estate on that night.

Maribe, who covered almost all Jubilee party campaign rallies in last year’s election, says that Jowie arrived at her house and found her in the bedroom on the night Monica was brutally killed. He kept saying he was sorry, she discloses.

“He kept crying, saying ‘Jacque I am sorry’ but I ignored him,” she said.

She narrates that minutes later, after ignoring him, she heard a gun shot from the closet area.

“I heard what sounded like a gunshot. I jumped out of bed and went to the closet. He was lying on the floor, he had blood on his upper left chest area,” the journalist recorded.

She rushed to pick her phone to call for help but upon returning, her fiancée had left the house. He saw him at the neighbors, Bryan Kassaine’s house through the window.

“I panicked and ran back into my bedroom. I got my phone. When I turned back to the closet area he was not there…” she added.

“I ran out and found Jowie lying down. Bryan and his wife Kate ran out to where Joseph was lying bleeding,” she said.

Monica was brutally murdered at her apartment in Nairobi’s Kilimani estate hours after returning to the country from South Sudan where she managed a family business. Her body had been dumped in a bathtub with hands and legs tied, and throat slit.
