Migori Governor Okoth Obado Had a Relationship with Sharon Otieno, His Lawyer Admits

Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s lawyer Cliff Ombeta has confirmed that indeed his client was in a relationship with slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

Ombeta, who spoke to KTN News on Tuesday night, however maintained that the Governor is innocent and was not involved in the abduction and killing of the 26-year-old student.

“Obado knew Sharon, he has not denied that. The nature of the relationship is quite open, it was known that they had a relationship,” Ombeta stated.

“The assumptions going on are trying to indicate that there is something from that relationship that must have caused the murder,” he added.

Ombeta said the fact that Obado’s personal assistant Michael Juma Oyamo is a prime suspect in the murder should not be used to drive investigations in a certain direction.

“By shouting that the ‘masters’ must be held accountable, everybody is talking from a point of ignorance not evidence,” he stated adding that detectives should be allowed to conduct their investigations without influence or coercion.

“Obado is one of the people who want this thing investigated to the end. He wants the culprits brought to book,” Ombeta asserted.

His remarks came after Governor Obado was questioned for close to 10 hours at the Nyanza region Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Kisumu on Tuesday.

  1. Upuzi., Justice for sale…
Upuzi., Justice for sale with the judiciary cartels. This man will walk free but to the eyes of the people you are nothing but killer. I hope your assistant will not take your bullet

  2. I concur with the previous…
I concur with the previous writer. Justice is for sale in Kenya. None of these officials ever suffer the consequences. No matter how much money they steal from the tax payers, no matter whom they kill along the way. Eventually money will buy his way off this heinous crime. The justice system in Kenya is very corrupted. What a country. This was someone’s daughter and she didn’t have to die that way. Now they have a fall guy to turn to while the master wage a public relations way. What a country.

  3. ordinary man is arrested…
ordinary man is arrested first and then jailed, big fish are investigated first, then exonerated for no enough evidence! Kenya today.
