Waititu Copied My Exams in Campus, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko Says

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has picked a fight with his Kiambu counterpart Ferdinand Waititu over his remarks on the ongoing demolition of buildings sitting on riparian land in the city.

Taking to Twitter, Sonko asked Waititu to keep off Nairobi County affairs and concentrate on providing solutions to problems facing Kiambu residents.

On Monday, Waititu said he was opposed to the demolition of expensive structures in Nairobi and asked government to seek alternative measures instead of bringing them down. In a video widely shared on social media, the Kiambu Governor said rivers near buildings can be moved.

“If your house is near a river, you should be told to move the river at [your] own cost. Demolishing houses is not a solution. Honestly speaking, it’s such a big loss,” he said during a thanksgiving service for Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah at Gikambura.

In a rejoinder, Sonko hit out at Waititu stating that no stones will be left unturned in the demolition operation.

“My good friend and colleague should concentrate on his county. He should know we don’t mix friendship with work,” Mr Sonko posted on Facebook.

“Even Weston [Hotel], my Buru Buru Casurina cocobeach plot, Taj Mall and many other buildings shall not be spared if found to be on riparian or public land,” said Mr Sonko.

Sonko also accused Waititu of cheating in examinations by copying his work while in campus. The two studied together at Kenya Methodist University (KeMu).

“Or May be he does not know what is the definition of a Riparian land and that’s why even in campus he was copying me during CATS,” Sonko said.
