Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was accorded a grand reception by residents when he landed at the lakeside city of Kisumu on Saturday.
The controversial MP made several stops in the streets of Kisumu to interact with residents. Kuria took time to mingle with the taxi drivers, boda boda riders and traders, who he referred to as “watu wangu.”
“I took time to visit this wonderful city of Kisumu with very friendly people. I am very happy and pleased to be in Kisumu.”
Kuria will be attending the homecoming party of ICT Principal Secretary Jerome Ochieng at Rachier Primary School, Nyakach and later on head to Kusa Catholic Church for a fundraiser.
The MP told Kisumu residents that Opposition leader Raila Odinga had sent him to the area to spread the message of reconciliation following his (Odinga) March 9th handshake with President Kenyatta.
“The handshake is something to be proud of and we should all support it,” Kuria said, “That I’m here in Kisumu is a manifestation that the handshake is real.”
“I think only a stupid man can criticise a handshake, because it is not about politics,” he said amid cheers from the crowd.
“Mambo ya uchaguzi itakuja baadaye lakini kwa wakati huu tukae kama ndugu na tufanye maandeleo,” he said.
