I'm Ready for Lifestyle Audit, Raila Declares

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has declared he is ready to have a lifestyle audit conducted on him in line with President Kenyatta’s efforts in fighting corruption.

Odinga, who spoke at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party retreat in Mombasa on Monday, said he is fully in support of the wealth audit on all public servants.

“We changed tact and assured the government that we are together in the war on corruption. We are no longer whistle blowers; we are one with the government in executing corruption,” said Raila.

He added: “We remain in the position that what is good for Kenya is good for ODM. The war on corruption is good for Kenya and we are in it fully, lifestyle audit on leaders is good for Kenya and personally I am ready for it.”

However, Odinga called on the government to hire an independent international agency to oversee the exercise.

On his part, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, who is also the party deputy leader, said ODM will front a presidential candidate in the 2022 elections.

“After this deliberation, we will come up with a strong resolution on how to move forward as a party. By the time we gear up for the next election we will be ready to take leadership of the country and form government as ODM,” Joho said.

“ODM stays strong and ODM will be alive in 2022 and will certainly have a candidate running for president in 2022.”

Odinga termed the famous March 9th handshake between him and President Kenyatta a success, noting that it has lowered tensions in the country.

“There was tension all over the country after the August 2017 elections and subsequent repeat elections. It was against this background that dialogue took place. These talks produced a memorandum of understanding as the basis of our relationship going forward,” said Odinga.

“The country and politics have changed since the 7th of March. Those refusing to embrace the change brought forth by the handshake are the ones creating confusion.”

  1. Yes, life style audits will…
Yes, life style audits will be conducted; Yes, there will be findings; and then what? Life style audit as a publicity stunt is meaningless unless the government also crafts punitive measures for those found culpable. Will there be prosecutions? Will the seriously rotten ones (the big thieves) be lined up in public and eliminated? Answers please.

Hii ni UPUUZI tu.These devils are still in charge.Nothing will change in Kenya while these murderers and thugs are around.Remember we still have many bongolalas who think Uhuru and Wetangula, represent their Gikuyu and Bukusu tribes respectfully when looting. There are others who think Raila and Moi represent Jaluo and Tugen when killing and cannibalizing the Gikuyu people.Others think that Kabogo,Wambui,Sonko and Mwau represent the Gikuyu and Kamba in their drugs trade. They must face the FIRING SQUAD for Kenya to have any change.

  3. Raila, you are still calling…
Raila, you are still calling on foreigners to do a job that Kenyans can do. You are one of those from the old school that cannot trust Kenyans. For fourty years you trust foreigners with money that you supposedly earned in Kenya, and you want Kenyans to trust you with our country? You are one of those that will sell Kenya for next to nothing in a heartbeat to those foreigners. A good audit can only be done by Kenyans, they know the inside and out of our country. What did ICC (foreigners) show after seven years.

Raila is a great leader. Let Ruto and the rest who is who in Kenya say the same. I am also ready for it too. Having been born and raised in Siaya there are some people who doubt how I can own a homes in Nairobi’s Muithaga estate, Switzerland and US and still own a private jet and yet I am not an Indian or a Kikuyu who stole the money. This lifestyle auditing is good our for the country. Nobody should fear being audited unless they have something to hide

This colonial mentality needs to be stopped on its tracks. When Raila talks “international” he does not mean anything African.
