Self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general Miguna Miguna has hit out at Opposition leader Raila Odinga over his latest remarks on the fight against corruption.
Speaking at Nambale, Busia County on Saturday, Raila said that President Kenyatta and him have put together a task-force that will handle corruption following their March 9th handshake.
“We are still constituting an elaborate team that will handle this vice (corruption).”
“What has remained is to perform what we agreed. I’m sure that the handshake will work and Kenyans should be prepared for a positive outcome,” Raila said.
However, taking to Twitter, Miguna lashed out at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, noting that task forces, Committees and Commissions can’t end looting of public funds.
“This is insanity. Only a deceptive, cowardly and failed leadership believes that Task Forces, Committees or Commissions end theft of public resources.”
“Only criminal convictions, long sentences, and restitution or wealth recovery will solve corruption,” Miguna added.
“It is a serious moral crime for Raila to give Kenyans empty promises that the mythical bridges to nowhere and “task forces” will end corruption, extrajudicial killings, and human rights abuses,” Miguna quipped.
Raila’s sentiments came in the wake of Sh9 billion scandal at the National Youth Service (NYS) and another at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), where about Sh6.3 billion was allegedly misused.
Miguna further urged Odinga to bow out of politics and allow youthful leaders pursue justice for the oppressed.
“Thank you for fighting against dictatorship for the past 30 years. You are now tired….Let young, vibrant, committed and courageous revolutionaries pursue justice,” Miguna tweeted.
