Sonko: Why I Settled on Miguna Miguna as Nairobi Deputy Governor

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has spoken on why he settled on firebrand lawyer Miguna Miguna as his deputy.

Speaking to Citizen TV on phone on Thursday, Sonko said he was committed to flushing cartels out of City Hall, and the lawyer was the best person to help him achieve that.

“I settled on Miguna Miguna so that he can help me in fighting the cartels. I know that Miguna is the number one ‘anti-cartel’ ,” said Sonko.

Citing the famous March 9th handshake between President Kenyatta and Opposition chief Raila Odinga, Sonko further noted that Miguna should be forgiven and allowed to reenter the country.

“If the President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga shook hands who is Miguna not to be forgiven? Miguna called me names such as cartel, corrupt man, thief,  drug dealer but let him be forgiven,” said Sonko.

“Let Miguna Miguna be allowed back to the country for him to take up this job I’m offering him to fight the cartels.”

However, the self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general earlier dismissed the nomination as a “malicious distraction.”

“Good afternoon? I have no idea what nearly everyone seems to be talking about. It’s a malicious distraction. That’s all I am saying!” Miguna said.

“Mr. Mike Sonko and I have not spoken, met or communicated since our gubernatorial debate in July 2017. I will not comment on malicious information, material or cheap propaganda circulating in the social media. Thank you,” said Miguna in a tweet.

Sonko said he will stand with the decision to pick Miguna, unless the County Assembly shoots down the nomination.

Nonsense Sonko!!!. The reason you nominated him is because you want to undermine Uhuru-Raila handshake since it has a lot of uncertainty in Uhuru’s succession and you and Duale are allies of Ruto. You want to want to politically build Miguna so that he can counter or check Raila. You have gotten your advise from Mutahi Ngunyi, we know all that

    • Exactly, this is all about…
Exactly, this is all about 2022, because in Kenya it is about elections every single day , no elected member has development and welfare of mwananchi ever, selfish group of people . Sonko in the next 3 years dear Nairobians will do nothing, he will work hard day and night to secure his governorship only. There you have it , you wasted your votes , lining up in the wee hours of the morning, drenched in rain, eating githeri even, just to vote for useless people!

Mr Sonko sir, have several seats! You are not making sense and in fact are undermining the immigration rules by stating that Miguna “be allowed in”. That is an incriminating statement as it seems to imply the government is simply refusing to let Miguna in. The man is refusing to comply with rules. By allowing him in without this compliance, are you not guilty of applying the same corruption you are hell bent in eradicating? I think you should step down. The job is too big for you to apply JUA KALI policy on! Miguna will chew and spit you out, you are both abrasive, but equally like chalk and cheese, so…. just let go!

Mr. “Governor” Sonko, you’re an amateur in the main league and I said this from the very beginning. Please give up the jersey to the real players and go do what you and the like of you do-run blocks. Government offices are for leaders and you Sonko isn’t one. So please do us all a favor and hire M2 to represent you in dirty deals court cases not as your Vice in a Government office. The nerve of this Thug!!
