I'm Not Looking for a Job, Raila Tells Referendum Critics

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has taken a swipe at critics of the proposed Referendum to alter leadership structure in the country.

Odinga said that the push to amend the Constitution is unstoppable and that devolution will only work with a change in the law.

“We have a Constitution, but it is not working. That is why President Kenyatta and I decided to come together for the sake of changing what needs to be changed,” he said.

Speaking when he presided over a thanksgiving ceremony for ODM politician John Loisa at Enkorika in Kajiado Central constituency, Raila stated that the proposed changes in the law were meant to benefit Kenyans and not to seek positions as critics claim.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader defended his push for a review in the system of governance, rubbishing claims that he was looking for a leadership position.

“I want to tell those opposed to the review that Raila Odinga is not looking for a job from anybody.”

“I am satisfied with where I am now. I am fighting for all Kenyans to ensure that they live a good life and if there is anything that I will do to make their lives better, I will not hesitate to do it,” Odinga said.

Raila maintained that the handshake and push for Constitution review wasn’t aimed at succeeding President Uhuru in 2022. “I am not looking for positions like others are doing. It is about the welfare of Kenyans,” Odinga said.

“That is the reason we did the handshake in broad daylight like the leaders of South and North Korea have done for the good of their countries.”

He was accompanied by businessman Jimi Wanjigi and MPs George Aladwa (Makadara) and Memusi Kanchory (Kajiado Central).

“We will not abandon you. We will support the direction you guide us on,” Wanjigi told Raila.

  1. Raila, God created this…
Raila, God created this world by word. A man is his word. Your word is “Constitution my foot”. You never cared about Constitution unless it serves your selfish needs about your rising to power. You have never cared about the common mwananchi. So many have died since 1982 on your path to presidency. So many families destroyed and so many careers brought to shame. Our country has been ridiculed in the world through your actions. You will change the Constitution to fit your selfish needs to power, but that power you will never attain because it’s not genuine. How can you start changing the Constitution (politics) when the country has just wasted more than one year in elections? Is the country about to take more loans go fund your referendums? Has the country recovered the cost of the second elections? Are we working to create dynasties? Because all these will fail. Your word is no longer good. It has flip flopped so many times, it’s not worth anything. Inclusivity is just a country of King Pins, not a country moving forward. It will be a country of entitlement. Those who will change our Constitution for selfish reasons will be the first casualties of that Constitution. Again “Constitution my foot”

  2. This guy Raila Raila is…
This guy Raila Raila is either crazy or he thinks Kenyans are fools, just the other day he was telling his Luo nation that the “handshake” was just to strategise on how to take power in 2022 and now see what he is telling the rest of Kenya. Who is fooling who ?
