Opposition leader Raila Odinga is set to name his full team that will spearhead the unity initiative reached between him and President Kenyatta last month.
Sunday Nation reports that Odinga will unveil the team that will work with lawyer Paul Mwangi on Tuesday, before flying to Kakamega for the fifth devolution conference on Wednesday, where he will deliver a key address.
The names will be forwarded to President Kenyatta before the end of the week. The President will later unveil his team to work under ambassador Martin Kimani.
Speaking when he attended a funeral ceremony in Siaya on Saturday, Raila hinted at the plans when he announced that he and Kenyatta will form an advisory team to unite the country.
“We want to come up with a solution that will answer our needs. We don’t want to have another election that will divide us,” he said, when he attended a funeral service in Bondo, Siaya county.
Lawyer Paul Mwangi told Sunday Nation that significant progress has been made in the unity pact and more programs are lined up in coming days.
“We are lining up a lot of activities to realise the nine-point plan because we have a broad-based agenda to fulfill. You will be seeing a lot of activities in the coming weeks. We are in the process of setting up offices. We are on this full time,” he said.
Ethnic antagonism and competition, lack of national ethos, inclusivity, devolution, divisive elections, safety and security, corruption, shared prosperity and responsibilities and rights are the key agendas in the MoU.
As Kenyans, we are watching…
As Kenyans, we are watching this handshake. We are hoping that future Kenya in 2022 will have new faces. No Kenyatta, no Odinga and no Moi!!!
