Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana now says he’s considering ditching Wiper party over what he termed as being treated as a ‘foreigner.’
The acting Wiper Chairman accused some of the members of disrespecting him and called on the party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to quickly sort out issues within the outfit, which may undermine his 2022 presidential bid.
“I will meet Kalonzo and ask him why some people are not respecting us. Since we are seen as foreigners, let Kalonzo find another person for my position. I will, however, assist the Kamba community where possible,” said Prof Kibwana.
The Governor, who spoke at church event in Makindu over the weekend, said he has been treated as an outsider ever since he left his Muungano party to join Wiper.
“I’m tired of Wiper-nominated MCAs who feel they are the owners of Wiper and call me a thief. They think that by doing this, they are supporting Kalonzo. That is destruction,” he said.
He accused a section of lawmakers from the region of engaging in divisive politics and fueling chaos as opposed to March 28th, 2017 Unity Declaration by leaders from the region.
“The leaders made a solemn vow of unity. Wavinya Ndeti and I left our parties to strengthen Wiper. Charity Ngilu also brought her force to the party so as to have strong bargaining power for leadership positions with other communities,” he said.
The Governor said his decision to join Wiper was solely informed by the need to unite their people, and had nothing to gain from the Kalonzo-led party.
