The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has rubbished Amani National Congress (ANC) chief Musalia Mudavadi’s claims that Raila Odinga is no longer the leader of the opposition National Super Alliance (Nasa).
In a statement dispatched to newsrooms last week, Mudavadi bashed the media for referring to Odinga as the Nasa leader, stating that he lost the title after boycotting the October 26th repeat presidential elections without consulting his fellow co-principals.
“NASA doesn’t have the title of ‘NASA Leader’ in its salutations attributed to Hon. Raila Odinga by the media. The only honorary title shared by the party leaders of the four partner parties has been either NASA Principal or NASA Co-Principal,” said Mudavadi.
He also dared ODM to leave Nasa and focus on their new found love with President Kenyatta’s Jubilee party
“NASA stated objective to constitute a democratic government and not dictatorship, ODM is in continued violation of the Political Parties Act.”
“ODM cannot eat the cooperation steak and the same time hold onto minority entails. That’s called double-standards, greed and dishonesty, which are the operating manuals for Jubilee,” he added.
However, ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna dismissed Mudavadi’s claims and insisted that Odinga remains the leader of the Opposition outfit.
Sifuna termed Mudavadi’s claims as “petty” and insisted that ODM had not joined Jubilee as ANC party alleged.
“ANC is being petty. A rose is a rose whatever name you call it. Raila is the Nasa leader and peoples president. Period,” Sifuna declared on Sunday.
