Why MPs Will Hold Demonstrations in Nairobi on Monday

Members of Parliament will on Monday hold peaceful demonstrations at Nation Media Group and Royal Media Services Offices, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has said.

In a Facebook post, Kuria said the lawmakers will seek audience with the management of the two media outlets over their recent negative and unverified reporting about MPs.

The protests come following a story that linked Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege to 25-year-old Wazir Benson Chacha, who is accused of using fake Mpesa accounts to con MPs and Cabinet Secretaries (CSs).

“Members of parliament will hold a peaceful march to the CEOs of Nation Media Group and Royal Media on Monday to protest this affront (The story about Ms Chege and the conman).

The reports by the media houses quoted Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti saying that the suspect had a “special” relationship with Ms Chege.

“We have carried in-depth investigations on this matter and come to the conclusion that there is a special relation between complaints (MPs) and the suspect which I may not be comfortable discussing in public,” Kinoti reportedly told the committee as quoted by media outlets.

However, in a statement on Twitter, DCI denied linking the conman to Ms Chege, terming the media reports as false and misleading.

“The Director of Criminal Investigations would wish to clarify allegations by some media houses, that Hon. Sabina Chege is said to have had a special relationship with a suspect being pursued by Police. The allegations are not only false but also misleading,” DCI tweeted on Friday.

Taking your shenanigans to the media houses when you should be in parliament debating important issues. Kuria has become protector of Sabina. Wonder what your wife would say about that.

You are the law makers.Dont demonstrate, make the necessary laws to stop fake news and charge the media houses and penalize them. If the media houses continue, hold or revoke their licenses. The media houses are not above the law. Protect the public, that is why you are the law makers.

Demonstrations without the police shooting the demonstrators should be part of the “New Kenyan Alliance.”

Thousands of Americans young people demonstrated yesterday without a single life being lost. Last year, about 400 demonstrators in Kenya lost their only life that they have when the state robots (police) shot unarmed citizens and nothing has happened or has been discussed by the people in power.

In order to forge ahead, a special tribunal should be set aside which will identify all the soldiers who aborted people’s lives for demonstrating against unjust political system and face immediate consequences of their activities.

Who ever ordered for the state robots to shoot their fellow citizens should be arrested and prosecuted and if found guilty imprisoned for life. All Kenyan lives matter.

Special Tribunals are a waste of tax payers money. Name one tribunal in Kenya (if any)that resulted in judgement being implemented. Imara you remind me of people who are out of touch with Kenya, haven’t been home for decades and don’t have a clue what is happening, well, despite @MkenyaHalisi constant pleas. And if a tribunal were to happen you bet Raila would be in the thick of it. Now I see why you need a beer to calm you down. Would help with your blood pressure.
