Decision to Meet President Uhuru was a Painful One, Says Raila

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has opened up on the decision to meet President Kenyatta, where the two agreed to work together in a unity pact.

Speaking for the first since the historic meeting with the President at his Harambee House office on Friday last week, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader said the decision to sit on the same table with Kenyatta was a “painful” one.

“I had no choice but to make a painful decision to work with Uhuru in a bid to realize a unitary State,” said Raila.

Odinga sought to explain the decision that came as a surprise to many, given the bitter rivalry that arose after last year’s disputed presidential polls.

“This was a painful decision. We have seen blood all over since 1992. Since August last year more than 360 people have died, we can’t allow this to continue,” Raila explained.

He noted that the need to unite Kenyans inspired him to seek peace with his former political antagonist. “We agreed that we must build one peaceful Nation. That is why I agreed to sit with President Uhuru on behalf of millions of the Kenyans I represent.”

“We had to sit face to face and tell him that we have to end the historical injustices. That is why we called the document ‘Building bridges.”

He said the pact with President Kenyatta seeks to tackle issues surrounding inclusivity, poverty, corruption and security. “If we agree on all these issues we will build a better new Kenya. Everything is possible if we agree to work together. “

Odinga was addressing mourners in Kisii during the burial ceremony of Prof Tumbo Oeri, a National Super Alliance strategist, on Friday.

Bongolala Kenyans should know that huyu ni muuaji Raila yule yule who can do anything to get power and money. He did it with Moi,got power, molases plant, and money minting works ministry where he carried bribes from constructors-kina HZ,Singh,Gacagua,Maina etc in bags.He sifted to Kibaki, same ministry and billions. He joined kina Uhuru briefly then agreed with Kibaki to kill 1300(95% of them Gikuyu) to enable them to loot. They did it.Now with Uhuru again targeting both money which he might already have been paid.He is also after the Gikuyu vote lakini hiyo ASAHAU(although i can’t speak for anybody) vile alisahau matiti ya mama yake, expired Ajuma.Labda Kibaki and boy Ndii’s votes if they have.

  2. Inclusivity should not only…
Inclusivity should not only consist of your clonies being nominated to cabinet positions while forgetting Wanjiku who is still languishing in poverty, can hardly make ends meet and painfully watches as tubocrats steal from her. Pathetic. Talking of inclusivity, why is ODM trying to remove Weta from his seat? Doesn’t this meet creating division criteria if you are talking about uniting Kenyans? This deal with Uhuru STINKS of hypocrisy. It’s like watching a soap opera with a little twist which amounts to the same crap. Its been taken straight from chapter 7 of Nyayo era. No imagination.

Guys let’s give these people a chance. You who are out there ugaibuni may not know what Kenyans have been going through. You think this is like English premier league where you blindly cheer on your team. Those who are hiding there (Guests) will sooner than later know what i mean once Trump catches up with you.

You don’t need to explain Raila. Your die hard fan base is intact….they will follow you to the edge of a cliff if they must! The bumpy ride to Canaan was rough and the destination not so rosy as anticipated by the likes of Guest1, lakini you are KING as far as they are concerned. So take a seat, grab your daughter Winnie’s hand and have her twerk to every teardrop shed by the mothers who lost their children in support of your campaign! There is a special reservation for the likes of you in eternity, and if that is the real Canaan you actually refer to, only YOU will realize one day. Not in vain, I pray for the wronged. Not possible the God we worship brought your lot to live, whilst the rest of kirindi came kukusindikiza…..You have just re branded Judah even he would be dismayed with! For the peace of the nation my foot! All you care about is your family’s legacy!

What was more painful, the decision to drop your ego and bow to Prezo or leave your people to drown in the Red sea? So now that Moses is dead , Joshua takes over. I understand MOses never made it to Cannan according to the scriptures. History repeats itself!!
