US Reacts to President Kenyatta-Raila Unity Pledge

The United States through Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has hailed President Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga for agreeing to bury the hatchet and unite the country.

Speaking during a media briefing after arriving in Nairobi on Friday evening, Tillerson said the reconciliation of the two leaders was a great milestone as far as Kenya’s unity is concerned.

“I congratulate President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga for meeting this morning. It’s a very positive step. I am cheering for success of Kenya,” Tillerson said during a press briefing at Villa Rossa Kempinski Hotel on Friday evening.

“We really want to give them the credit. This was a very important action on their part.”

“To show they are ready to work for all Kenyans regardless of party and begin to take this long journey that’s necessary to restore the country, eliminate these divisions that are creating obstacles to Kenya’s future,” stated Tillerson.

The Washington top envoy later held talks with President Kenyatta at State House in Nairobi, where he reiterated US commitment to Kenya on trade and security.

“There is no question about US commitment to Kenya on trade and security,” Mr Tillerson said during the meeting at State House, Nairobi.

He also appreciated the cooperation between US and Kenya in the fight against insecurity in Somalia and South Sudan.

Tillerson assured President Uhuru of his country’s support in realising his Big Four agenda.

“The US is glad to see Kenya building investor confidence because that will help in the growth of the economy,” the US Secretary of State said.

Speaking during the meeting with Tillerson, President Kenyatta hailed the presence of top American companies in Kenya: “Leading US multinationals such as IBM, Microsoft, Google, General Electric, Coca Cola, and Bechtel, to name but a few, have opened their regional offices in Kenya; thereby providing themselves with the best platform to access the vast African market.”

“As a people, we are more determined to forge a united front as we march forward in the path of progress,” President Kenyatta said.

It is time we as Kenyans find the best in all of us and come together, and work together in order to leave a positive legacy to our great grandchildren.

Congratulations Ndugu Raila and Ndugu Kenyatta for the courage that you had to get together in order to forge a positive climate for you and everybody in Kenya.

My first request for you is to tame the members of the police force for their insatiable addiction to bribery. Technology is so advanced and readily available that we can get rid of this vice in less than a month. Once the members of the police force are tamed, then we should focus on the members of judiciary. When the police and the judiciary work together, Kenyans citizens will join hands and internal security will be achieved.

Finally, get rid of the corrupt Wafula Chebukati from the IEBC and reconstruct it and make it effective. It is this joint that cleared criminals, thieves, rapists, drug dealers and users, pedophiles, murderers, alcoholics, and sexually promiscuous addicts to run for an elective public office. Until IEBC is reconstructed, Kenya will continue to slide into its current status of moral bankruptcy because currently we have people holding crucial positions who should be in jail.

I urge you two (Uhuru and Raila) to continue working together and restore the unity that has been lacking in Kenya for many years.

Long live the Unity between Raila and Uhuru and long live our New Republic of Kenya.

    • I agree with all you say,…
I agree with all you say, BUT the order. The JUDICIARY must be the FIRST place to be fixed, if ever Kenya will come out of corruption and injustice. The Judiciary works, everything falls into place.

@Imara, I remember we had this discussion before… when the old Imara existed…welcome back…the almost-converted Imara was scary.

  2. The US needs to Stop…
The US needs to Stop supporting stupidity and failed ideas. Its 2018 not 2007.
    These people are retrogressing.

This is disgusting and most Kenyans will not support this.
And you can take that to the bank.

  3. @JustMe:…
    @JustMe:

Ndugu JustMe, I sincerely believe that we all as human beings have two binary features built in us: Forces of Evil and Forces of Good.

Every human being is capable of choosing and executing one of the two constructs in us. As you ride the ferry to Robben Island, off the coast of Cape Town in South Africa, you will see words written on a slab about Robben Island. It says, that the “…Forces of Evil …” were responsible of jailing and keeping Madiba Mandela for 18 years on this island.

We have to forge ahead and heed the words of wisdom from President J.F. Kennedy who said on his inaugural speech on January 20, 1961: ” Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.” He was able to bring all the minds of the Americans together and indeed his words were fulfilled on July 20, 1969 when Neil Armstrong landed on the moon.

The potential of Kenyans succeeding beyond any physical or mental boundaries is limitless. Now that Ndugu Uhuru and Raila have agreed to work together, we as Kenyan citizens need to support them and Make Kenya a Paradise Again – MKAPA (Make Kenya A Paradise Again)
