US Embassy in Nairobi Dismisses NASA's Claims On Ambassador Godec's Calls For Raila to Recognize Kenyatta's Presidency

The United States Embassy in Nairobi has refuted claims by National Super Alliance (Nasa) that its Ambassador Robert Godec’s push for Opposition leader Raila Odinga to recognize Kenyatta’s presidency was informed by America’s commercial interests in Kenya.

Earlier this week, envoys from 11 countries led by US, Britain, Germany and France urged the opposition to first recognize Kenyatta as the country’s legitimately elected president as a starting point to a dialogue to end the political stalemate.

The envoys in a joint statement said: “The Opposition must accept the decision of the Supreme Court to uphold the election of October 26.  Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto are the legitimate President and Deputy President of Kenya.  The Opposition needs to accept this as the basis for the dialogue that it and many Kenyans want.  Stoking and threatening violence are not acceptable, nor are extra-Constitutional measures to seize power.”

In a media briefing on Wednesday at Capitol Hill office, Nasa MPs Tom Kajwang (Ruaraka), Simba Arati (Dagoretti North), and Godfrey Osotsi (Nominated) said Godec’s recent remarks were driven by US business interests.

“Three days before the election, Godec fronted deal to build a new Mombasa-Nairobi highway was single sourced for one of America’s biggest defence contractors, a big profiteer from war in Iraq,” They said.

“Kenyans will recall that these same envoys stood by the electoral commission even when it was glaringly obvious that the IEBC was a rogue institution. Instead of piling pressure on the IEBC to comply with the ruling of the Supreme Court, they issued statements expressing confidence in the IEBC,” they added.

However, in a statement by Spokesperson Fiona Evans, the US Embassy in Nairobi termed the claims by Nasa as false.

“Nasa’s claim that the US and Ambassador Godec support Jubilee in exchange for a military aircraft tender or the Nairobi-Mombasa highway contract is absolutely and completely false,” she said.

When the big dogs (Raila, Kalonzo, Weta and Muda) are sleeping, the puppies (Kajwang, Arati, Osotsi) come out barking. Really! US Embassy should not listen to these idiots. With Raila politically incapacitated, let’s see how far the puppies can advance their agenda. Wacheni Upuzi.

Foolish Africans like RAO and his clowns think democracy is only when they are disobeying the law or just opposing what the government is proposing. There is time for politicking, especially during campaigns, and a time to work on developing the country. Idiots!!
