Gov’t Says Crackdown on NASA Leaders at the Centre of Raila Oath to Continue

Crackdown on opposition figures involved in the controversial swearing in of National Super Alliance (Nasa) chief Raila Odinga will continue, Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet has said.

Speaking at Kiganjo Police Training College in Nyeri on Friday, the police chief vowed that no one will be spared in the enforcement of law and order in the country.

“We are serving the people in a constitutional manner. Break the law and face the consequences. We will arrest them,” Boinnet said.

Boinnet was flanked by his two deputies, Noor Gabow and Edward Mbugua, who are in charge of Administration Police and Kenya Police respectively.

The police boss also defended the move to arrest opposition leaders at the center of Raila’s swearing in, noting that police acted within the law and the Constitution.

“We are matching ahead and no going back. We are serving the people in accordance with the constitution,” said Boinnet.

Among Nasa leaders arrested in the Oath crackdown include Ruaraka Member of Parliament TJ Kajwang, who administered the oath on Odinga, his Makadara counterpart George Aladwa and former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Miguna Miguna, who was deported to Canada on Tuesday.
