Raila Holds Talks with Foreign Envoys in Nairobi

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has on Friday held discussions with foreign envoys to brief them on their position on the disputed presidential election.

This comes a day after the opposition leader told the US and other Western countries to stop meddling with Kenya’s affairs, arguing that the country’s problems will be solved by the people of Kenya themselves.

“Kenyan problems will be solved by the Kenyan people. Our friends can give us advise but don’t come and shout at us and tell us we are violating the constitution,” said a seemingly annoyed Odinga.

“We as Kenyans, we will resolve our problems as Kenyans. The will of the Kenyan people is not going to be stopped. We will move and do what is right for the people of Kenya,” he added.

“ …Not a single envoy or ambassador in the country has raised their voice to condemn these killings,” he said.

In a message on his Twitter handle after meeting the foreign diplomats, Odinga said communicated Nasa’s position to the envoys.

“Putting forward our position as a coalition to members…We maintain that the will of the people is paramount. #Resist,” the NASA leader tweeted regarding the meeting that took place at Capitol Hill.

US ambassador Robert Godec, who attended the meeting said Kenya must strive to uphold the law at all times. “I stress the need to uphold the constitution. We urge the government, Opposition and all Kenyans to engage in open, transparent national conversation.”
